March was seriously my best reading month ever. I read 60 books in March! Granted, most of them were graphic novels, but they still count!
Some were great, some were not so great, but either way, this is the longest list ever, so grab the coffee and get settled in!
There are a lot on here that I feel pretty neutrally about and don’t have major thoughts on, positive or negative, so I may not have much in some of the final thoughts but there are a lot that didn’t leave much of an impression, which is why.

She thought he was drunk but actually, she stopped a suicide and becomes obsessed with finding out his secrets while he becomes obsessed with stopping her.
Final thoughts: This one didn’t have much of an impact on me because I had no idea what this was about as I looked at the cover for two minutes. Here’s what I wrote on Good Reads:
Maybe 2.5 because I did like bits of it but I’m very glad it’s over. This was.. not great. I am the WOST at guessing and figuring out twists but I had this one down early. The first exciting g thing happened like 150 pages in and it was still slow!
I didn’t care about anyone. And there were just a lot of little things that didn’t make sense or were weird and bothered me. I don’t think it needed to be as long as it was either.
Anya’s Ghost

About the book: Of all the things Anya thought she would find at the bottom of a well, it wasn’t a new friend. Much less a ghost friend but a friend is just what she needs right now, or so she thinks.
Final thoughts: I liked this one. I thought it was cute and really enjoyed the art in it. It’s not one of my top graphic novels but it was a fun read. I don’t have any major thoughts on this one either way.
Blossoms: 666 #1
Author: Cullen Bunn

About the book: Cheryl and Jason are just two normal high schoolers, but they have a dark secret. One of them is the anti-Christ but they both want the power. No one in Riverdale is safe.
Final thoughts: I, apparently, liked this one a lot and if it’s the one I’m thinking of, I did enjoy it! I loooove this version of Cheryl. I’d probably continue reading this little series. It’s nothing Earth shattering, but it is fun if you like the weird Riverdale world.
Betty and Veronica: Senior Year
Author: Jamie Lee Rotante

About the book: All that’s standing between Betty and Veronica and freedom is their senior year of high school. Their friendship is put to the test when they realize they won’t be attending the same college in the fall. If you like the original Archie comics, this is a great more modern spin-off.
Final thoughts: I didn’t hate this one, I didn’t love this one. If you like the Riverdale world, it’s a nice little addition to that, but I personally like the weird vampire ones more. It was just fine for me.
Vampironica: Vol. 1

Genre: Graphic novel

About the book: Veronica is bitten by a centuries-old vampire and her thirst for blood is threatening to turn Riverdale into a haven for the undead. This is another great one to read if you like the classic Archies and want something new with a twist or if you enjoy the Riverdale show/world.
Final thoughts: I liked this one a lot. I don’t usually go for vampires but this one was fun. It’s not a groundbreaking vampire graphic novel but it’s fun.
Almost American Girl
Author: Robin Ha
Genre: Graphic memoir
Rating: 5/5
About the book: It’s always been Robin and her mom against the world but things change when a vacation to Hunstville, Alabama turns into a permanent move. Robin is devastated to have to leave everything and everyone behind.
Things start to look up when her mom enrolls her in a local comic drawing class, opening a window to a world she never imagined.
Final thoughts: I loved this one so much! It was sad but happy at the same time, well, different times but it was so good. I think graphic memoirs are some of my favorite types of graphic novels. I would 100% recommend this one!
Jughead: The Hunger, Vol. 1

About the book: Jughead’s family legacy comes to light as his insatiable appetite takes over and a murderous menace is on the loose.
Final thoughts: I didn’t hate this one but I didn’t particularly care for it either. It’s another one from the Riverdale world that was just fine for me.
Harrow County

Final thoughts: I really liked this one! It’s perfectly creepy, an interesting story, and best read in the dark.

This art deco-steam punk world is an alternate matriarchal 1900’s Asia where we follow the story of a teenage girl struggling to survive the trauma of war and who also happens to share a mysterious psychic link with a very powerful monster. This connection will make both of them the target of terrible human and otherworldly powers.
Final thoughts: I really liked this one and Kippa is THE CUTEST THING I’VE EVER SEEN IN MY LIFE! Seriously. SO CUTE. Also, I liked the story though it was a little confusing at times but I will probably keep reading this series.
Ghosted in LA

About the book: Daphne moves to LA to be with her boyfriend, Ronnie, and live out their happily ever after, but after a month she’s stuck alone, with no family, friends, or fun so she sets out to explore the city. She ends up the Rycroft Manor, an abandoned, beautiful, and haunted new home for her.
Final thoughts: I liked this one enough to want to continue the series. I did really hate how tiny the text was though. I was reading it on Libby which doesn’t have the fancy double tap to zoom between squares thing so it was hard to read but I liked it.
She Could Fly, Volume 2: The Lost Pilot
Author: Christopher Cantwell
Genre: Graphic novel

About the book: I’m not putting the description here because I don’t want to ruin anything from the first volume.
Final thoughts: I didn’t really like this one. It doesn’t make that much sense to me and it’s just kind of weird. This review seems to sum up my thoughts about this one pretty well. I honestly don’t even remember the resolution to any of this.
She Could Fly

Rating:2/5 (was 3/5 but thinking about it now made me remember not liking it more)
About the book: A woman appears flying over Chicago 11 times over the course of 51 days before she suddenly dies in a fiery explosion. Luna, a disturbed teenager, becomes obsessed with finding out who she was while government investigators, defense contractors, and foreign sources try to find out for their own sinister reasons.
Final thoughts: I really didn’t like this that much but decided to read the second one anyway. This is just kind of a weird story that doesn’t really make that much sense.
Sure, there is a woman flying over Chicago, but this is more about a teenager with an obsession with this woman.
And other people trying to find this woman because she is a brilliant physicist or something? And they all want this jetpack thing? I just don’t get this one.

Genre: ya cult fiction

About the book: Like any seventeen-year-old, Twig loves her family. All 180 of them. They live in a collective society in Costa Rica with a shared fear of a contagious infection in the outside world.
When Adam, the Father, announces she’ll be his new bride, she is overjoyed, but when she leaves the grounds from an injury, she realizes the world isn’t as toxic as they were made to believe. Then she meets Leo and begins to question everything in her life.
Final thoughts: I just don’t know about this one. It sounded really interesting, but it just didn’t tick the boxes I wanted. And this girl is in a cult but the first time she leaves, she just believes everything the outsiders tell her and doesn’t question it at all? And falls in love the second she meets this random guy? The more I think about it the more it bothers me.
My thoughts from Good Reads: This was weird. I liked it but the first 75% DRAGGED and took me like two weeks to read. The last 25% had a lot of action and I finished in one night. Not one I’d reread but it was mostly good.

Final thoughts: I really liked this one. I liked the art style and enjoyed the story itself. I will say, the cat thing and the people after the cat didn’t make tons of sense to me, but overall I liked it.
They Called Us Enemy

About the book: This is the story of George Takei’s childhood during the time when every person of Japanese descent was rounded up and sent to “relocation centers” thousands of miles from home where they would spend years under armed guard.
Final thoughts: I really liked this one! I was a little worried it might be mostly about his time on Star Trek or in Hollywood, but it was mostly about his childhood and growing up in “relocation centers.” I also just really love graphic memoirs.

Final thoughts: I did like this, but I listened to it and I think that’s part of why I just feel fine about this one. I really don’t take in audiobooks that well and it takes me so long to listen to them I forget a lot of what’s going on and that happened with this.
Modern Fantasy, Volume 1

About the book: A young Ranger woman came to God’s Helm with dreams of adventure but she ends up on a quest to save the world with her drug dealing reptilian wizard roommate and dwarf maiden best friend.
Final thoughts: This wasn’t a bad graphic novel but it wasn’t anything special for me. It was perfectly average but not something I’m going to keep reading. I was glad when I finished it.
The Witches
Author: Penelope Bagieu, Roald Dahl
Genre: Graphic novel

About the book: Witches are real and very dangerous. They live ordinary lives around the world but they all hate children. They have a plan to get rid of all the children in the country but a young boy and his grandmother may be the only chance to stop the Grand High Witch and her plan.
Final thoughts: This was just the graphic novel version of the book by Roald Dahl. I didn’t love the art style, I don’t think it fit the story that well. It could have been a lot creepier, though I suppose it is for kids, so there’s that. I didn’t hate it, it was fine.
The Handmaids Tale
Author: Renee Nault, Margaret Atwood
Genre: Graphic novel

About the book: Offred is a handmaid in the republic of Gilead serving the Commander and his wife. Her only purpose in life now is to lay on her back once a month and hope the commander makes her pregnant because the only way the handmaids are valued in this world of declining births is if they are fertile.
Final thoughts: I already read the regular version of this and really liked it so the only thing that was new for me was the art, which I loved. I enjoyed this one and felt it was a little more, I’m not sure if immersive is the right word, but it wasn’t quite as dry, I guess.
Paper Girls, Book One
Author: Brian K. Vaughn, Cliff Chiang, Matt Wilson, Jared K. Fletcher
Genre: Graphic novel
Rating: 5/5
About the book: Four 12-year-old newspaper delivery girls in Cleveland, Ohio uncover the most important story of all time the morning after Halloween in 1988.
Final thoughts: I loved this. It was a fun sci-fi 80s throwback. I liked the story and the characters, plus the art was wonderful. I will definitely continue this series.
We Are Here Forever
Author: Michelle Gish
Genre: Graphic novel

About the book: This is the story of Puramus, the cutest little creatures that are left on Earth after the apocalypse. It’s their journey through time and all their hilarious adventures.
Final thoughts: From Good Reads: This was ok. The characters are really cute but the rest was just fine. But how do they know what almost everything is but call a skateboard a flarg and don’t know what a can opener is?
Stage Dreams
Author: Melanie Gillman
Genre: Graphic novel

About the book: This queer western adventure follows Flor and Grace as they team up to thwart a Confederate plot in the New Mexico Territory.
Final thoughts: This was a really great old west story featuring a trans woman and POC woman main characters. I enjoyed this one more than I thought I would for just randomly finding it on Libby.
Extraordinary: A Story of an Ordinary Princess
Author: Cassie Anderson
Genre: Graphic novel

About the book: Princess Basil has been given the gift of being ordinary and after escaping a planned kidnapping, she finds herself far from her castle with her fate in her own hands.
Final thoughts: I thought this was a fun story of an ordinary princess finding out she’s extraordinary in her own unexpected way. It’s not my favorite graphic novel ever but it was enjoyable and I’m glad I read it.
My Beijing: Four Stories of Everyday Wonder
Author: Nie Jun
Genre: Graphic novel
Rating: 4/5
About the book: Yu’er lives with her grandpa in a small neighborhood in Beijing. It’s full of big personalities and adventure around every corner.
Final thoughts: This is another one I really liked but isn’t in my favorites. The art is so cute and I really enjoyed the stories.
Deep Dark Fears

Genre: Graphic novel

About the book: This is a collection of illustrations of strange fears sent in by fans. They go from unlikely but plausible to totally off the wall, highlighting human similarities and our peculiar uniqueness.
Final thoughts: I really liked this one. It reminded me of Post Secret but a graphic novel version and just fears. It was really fun and some of them had me laugh out loud a little. It’s a super easy read and really fun, too.
I Remember Beirut

About the book: This is a collection of memories growing up during the war in Lebanon.
Final thoughts: I didn’t care for this one. It wasn’t terrible but I just wasn’t a fan. The story itself wasn’t my favorite and I didn’t like the art style either.
Apocalyptigirl: An Aria for the End of Times
Author: Andrew MacLean
Genre: Graphic novel

About the book: Aria is searching for a relic with immeasurable power, traipsing through an overgrown city with her cat Jelly Beans.
Final thoughts: I didn’t care for this one either. I didn’t really know what was going on and was glad it was done when I got to the end.
The Hidden Witch

About the book: Aster and his family are adjusting to his unconventional witchery. He’s taking classes with his grandmother while helping keep an eye on his great uncle with corrupted magical powers. Meanwhile, his non-magical friend has a curse trying to attach to her. She runs to Aster to escape it but now they need to find the source.
Final thoughts: I read the other two of these out of order and loved this one, too! I still think this is a series everyone should read.

About the book: All Isaac wants is to be a normal functional college student but managing his epilepsy is an exhausting battle. He tries to balance seizure triggers with normal life but nothing seems to help.
Even with a new friend on his side, his life is falling apart, his school work is piling up, and it feels like his epilepsy might be unbeatable.
Final thoughts: This is one of the mountain of books I got in Sanibel. I almost didn’t get it, I put it back, and then I decided to go for it and I’m so glad I did. I really liked this one. It was really interesting seeing the authors perspective on trying to live a normal life in college while he suffers with epilepsy. Would definitely recommend this one.
Best. State. Ever: A Florida Man Defends His Homeland

About the book: No one knows what will happen next in Florida, just that something will. We get to follow Dave Barry as he travels to all the magnificently weird things Florida has to offer.
Final thoughts: I loved this one. But I also love Florida so I enjoyed getting to read about all the weird Florida things from someone that lives there. This was a fun, easy read, I read the whole thing in one day when we went to Sanibel (another one I got there.)

About the book: Josie is a perfect housewife, mother, and killer for hire. She’s great at her job but soon she is the target of her own boss.
Final thoughts: I was hoping I would like this more than I did but it was just OK. I also just don’t care for hitman type stories which could be part of it.

Final thoughts: I love this. This is such a fun series! I think I’ve read the first ten or so but I’ll definitely keep going. This is definitely more middle-grade so I would go in expecting that, but for what it is, it’s a very enjoyable friendship adventure.

Lumberjanes Vol. 2: Friendship to the Max

About the book: This time the campers are taking on raptors and a sibling rivalry that it out of this world and this time period.
Final thoughts: Again, I liked this. It’s a fun story. I liked this one a little less than the other two so far but it was still good.
The Swords of Glass

About the book: The death of the sun threatens Yama’s world. She is the daughter of a village chief and the day a sword falls from the sky, everything changes and the prophecy is announced.
Orland comes to get the weapon but fails and in the process, Yama’s father is killed and her mother is taken away. She escapes and grows up with one thought: return for the sword of glass to avenge her parents.
Final thoughts: I did not like this one. The story was weird and I just didn’t get it. The cover is wonderful but I was not a fan of the insides. Also, I just read the description and I don’t remember the death of the sun whatsoever.

Author: Joelle Charbonneau
Genre: YA thriller
Rating: 3/5 (maybe closer to 2.5)
About the book: Teens in Nottawa, Wisconsin are joining NEED, the hottest new social network, one by one. They’re also dying just as quickly. Most people need a new phone or new computer, but Kaylee needs a new kidney for her brother but after she makes the request, she realizes the price being paid for these “gifts” is higher than anyone imagined.
Final thoughts: I had high hopes for this one because I LOVED The Testing and it’s the same author but this one wasn’t as good. From Good Reads:
Maybe closer to 2.5. It was an interesting idea but the execution was.. not great.
SPOILERS BELOW
It was too hard (impossible) to believe that the government is behind killing off most of a high school and having the kids do all the killing. And authority figure was even remotely suspicious about any of it.
So logic aside, it was entertaining enough but not something I’d read again
The Okay Witch

About the book: Moth loves all things witchy but is about to learn they’re not like they are in the movies. When some bullies try to ruin her Halloween, something strange happens. It turns out Moth’s family is at the center of some witchy drama that’s been in Founders Bluff for centuries.
Final thoughts: I loved this one but I’m a sucker for a cute witchy graphic novel. The art style was really cute and the story was wonderful as well. Big fan and just saw that another one will be coming out in July!!
Nothing to See Here
Author: Kevin Wilson
Genre: Magical realism

About the book: Lillian and Madison were unexpected friends and roommates at boarding school but when Lillian has to leave after a scandal, they barely speak anymore. Until, more than ten years later, she gets a letter from Madison pleading for her help. She wants Lillian to be the caretaker for her two step-kids that are moving in that spontaneously combust.
Final thoughts: I loved this. It wasn’t as exciting as I expected it to be but it was still enjoyable. When I first saw the description I actually laughed out loud at the idea and wanted to read it right away. It wasn’t as funny as it sounded like it would be, but I loved it.

About the book: Diana was hurt a lot and she’s dealing with it by buying a robot boyfriend. Mary and La-la host a podcast about a movie no one has seen. And Kelly drags her friend Beth out of her comfort zone to a fantasy market they’ll never forget.
Final thoughts: This wasn’t bad but I also didn’t care for it that much. It was kind of weird and just not for me.

Final thoughts: Apparently I didn’t like this one as much as the others. I don’t really remember what happened in this, so I guess that says enough.

Final thoughts: This is another one that wasn’t necessarily bad but I also just didn’t care for it that much. Apparently I’m not a fan of these human in magical worlds things.

Final thoughts: This was a fun one but I also really enjoy the yetis. One thing I don’t love about this series is the changing art style in the novels. I like the style of the first one of two but it changes as you go and I don’t like most of it as much.

Final thoughts: This one is cute and I like the art, but it was short and really didn’t pull me in. At all. I think it would have been better if it was longer.

About the book: Valentine’s daily life is filled with the usual upheavals of adolescence. She is self-conscious and shy, spending most of her time with her friends or at parties on the weekend. She also desperately tries to get the attention of Felix, the boy she’s in love with that doesn’t know she exists.
Final thoughts: I liked this one. It wasn’t super exciting but I like this kind of mundane story. I will definitely keep reading these.
The Bling Ring

About the book: This is the story of The Bling Ring, a group of teens in the valley that broke into homes of celebrities for fun. They would steal their clothes, hang out in their homes, and then wear what they stole to live that Hollywood elite life.
Final thoughts: I watched this movie when we were in Everglades City this winter and got the book at a library book sale a couple of years ago so I finally read it after watching it. I thought it was interesting but I’m not sure it needed to be a whole book. It wasn’t bad but it obviously wasn’t a five star read for me.

About the book: Pan used to work in her dad’s body shop, sneak out with her friend Tara, and watch the sky for freighter ships. It didn’t even matter that Tara was a princess, until it did and they had to say goodbye forever. Years later she finds out life may not be as small as she thought as she joins two off-world gladiators off the galactic grid.
Final thoughts: I loved this one! It’s fun, exciting, and empowering. I wasn’t sure about this when I started it but I’m a big fan now and will definitely continue reading these.

About the book: I can’t even with this description. Anne sleeps with the king (literally just sleeps) and the queen finds out so she kicks Anne out. Then she opens a tavern and everyone is mad and doesn’t want to go there. But then they do?
Final thoughts: This just did not do it for me either. Not a fan.
The Line Becomes A River

About the book: The border is in Francisco’s blood. He is haunted by the landscapes of his youth and joins the border patrol. He is posted in remote regions crossed by drug routes and smuggling corridors where they learn to track humans. He is plagued by nightmares and leaves the patrol and when an immigrant friend goes back to Mexico and doesn’t return, he now must know the whole story.
Final thoughts: I really liked this one. I know it’s controversial since he was a border agent, but I enjoyed it. I read this as we were driving through Texas and El Paso though, which was also interesting.
Witches in Training

About the book: Two witches in training are learning to care for magical creatures at this supernatural vet office.
Final thoughts: I liked this one. I love witches and the story was cute, as were the critters. I also really liked the art style. I’ll keep reading this series.
The Invisible War: A World War I Tale on Two Scales

About the book: This is the story of a nurse in World War II fighting her own battle with trillions of microbes: dysentery.
Final thoughts: I didn’t really care about this one, especially the actual war part. I did like the virus part and learning about that but I didn’t care for most of this one. I was glad when I finished it.
The Cousins
Author: Karen M. McManus

About the book: Milly, Aubrey, and Jonah Story are cousins that barely know each other but are all summoned by their rich grandmother they’ve never met to work at her island resort for the summer.
Their parents all agree not going isn’t an option and when they arrive on the island, it’s clear her plans for them are not what they thought and that their family has a lot of darker secrets than they thought.
Final thoughts: I really liked this one. This was a good one with lots of rich family drama on a New England island over the summer. I’m a sucker for this kind of book though. Karen M. McManus and Sara Shepard books are my jam.

About the book: Lucy decides to go on a cruise with her grandparents, trying to connect with them and reconcile their younger and older selves. We also get to read parts of her grandfathers WWII memoir.
Final thoughts: I liked this one a lot. I love travel books so it was interesting seeing it in graphic novel format. I also thought it was interesting seeing a travel experience out of the norm: a cruise with her grandparents.
It was sad to read, seeing and knowing how hard it is dealing with ailing grandparents but it was also really nice to see their connection on this trip.
Suee and the Shadow
Author: Ginger Ly
Genre: Graphic novel
Rating: 4/5
About the book: Suee is twelve, wears her hair a certain way, and has no friends. When she starts school at Outskirts Elementary, she starts to hear a whispering in the exhibit room. The last thing she expected was to see her shadow come to life. Soon, weird things start to happen, like classmates turning zombie-like and her shadow starts to get stronger.
Final thoughts: I thought this was a cute one. It kind of reminded me of Anya’s Ghost. If there was another one I’d read it. It’s not a top graphic novel for me but I did enjoy it quite a bit.
