After sharing my post about The Lynx in Gainesville, I decided it would be fun to highlight some of my other favorite bookstores, starting with Dotters Books in Eau Claire!
Their original location was on Hogeboom Ave., but in 2023 they moved to their current downtown Eau Claire location on Barstow. I loved both locations but this one is so close to a lot of other really great shops!
I know I’m biased since I live here but, even though they don’t have a ton of my preferred genres, Dotters is one of my favorite bookstores.
Dotters is a woman-owned independent bookstore that opened in 2017. It’s a beautiful store and Margaret, the owner, is very friendly. Every time I’m downtown I make sure to stop in.
If you’re passing through the area and love bookstores, or are taking a stroll downtown, be sure to stop in and pick out a book or four!

Where is Dotters Books?
Dotters Books is in downtown Eau Claire, Wisconsin, on Barstow Street. It’s across from Hello Adorn and next to Seven Suns Vintage.
Dotters books address
307 S Barstow St, Eau Claire, WI 54701
Dotters Books opening hours
Dotters is closed Sunday and Monday, and open 10-6 the rest of the week. Hours will vary on holidays (they’ll probably be closed) and they occasionally close for vacations or short breaks. They’ll usually update Facebook with anything like that.

What kind of books does Dotters have?
Dotters has a pretty good selection of books, but it is primarily general fiction/LitFic. This isn’t my preferred genre but I’ve found a ton of good reads here!
Mixed in with the regular fiction they have the occasional sci-fi or horror (not Stephen King or gorey horror, more like Bunny horror). There is a good selection of memoirs and a solid mix of diverse authors. They also have a kids section and a small YA section.
Dotters book club
Dotters has their own book club and the themes vary by year. You can follow along on Istagram and if you want to join, you can email them: dottersbooks@gmail.com. You can find all of the past and future book club picks here if you just want to read them on your own, too.
Events at Dotters Books
Dotters hosts book events both at the store and around the community, including author readings, weekly storytime on Saturdays, author discussions, and more. You can find their events here.
