Over the last couple of years I was putting out my Rainbow Reads series, sharing books with covers of all colors. And now that I’m in my horror era, I decided to do a Horror Rainbow Reads series!

I decided to start with pink this time for no particular reason other than horror books with pink covers can be hard to come by. There aren’t a ton on this list but I’ll add more as I find them.

Of Cattle and Men

Edgar Wilson is a reliable stun gun operator at Senhor Milo’s slaughterhouse and with the cows so unsettled for some reason, it’s even more important to keep them calm. In a panic, they’ve begun to run into walls and off cliffs.

The foreman thinks it’s a jaguar or wild boar but Edgar has his own suspicions. The only thing that’s certain is that something in this desolate corner of Brazil is driving both man and animal to murder and madness.

Pyramidia

Harriet moves to Bentwood to teach gifted students but things aren’t really going as planned. Her house is haunted and her neighbor Lucy won’t leave her alone.

Enter, Kelsey who’s here to offer up a wonderful opportunity with Serenitea, the towns pyramid scheme. Harriet is drawn to the group of women selling the tea, and she can’t stop drinking it.

She keeps getting emails about new descendants, Harold, the gym teacher, is a pervy creep, and Lucy joins the MLM despite thinking all the women are vampires. But Harriet doesn’t care because Serenitea makes her feel tranquil, at least until Lucy disappears.

Just Like Home

Vera’s estranged mother called her home, to the home of a serial killer, the home her father buried the bodies under, and she obeyed.

To make things worse, a parasitic artist is living in the guesthouse and dismantling her childhood for part. He insists he isn’t leaving notes around the house in her father’s handwriting, but who else could it be?

Vera has to uncover the secrets and find out how deep they really go.

Bunny

I actually think this one is good to go into blind so I’m not going to give a description for it, but you can find that on Amazon or Goodreads. I will say it’s very weird, but he writing is so good, like so, so good

How to Kill Your Family

Grace’s mom is dying and her absentee millionaire father denied her pleas for help. Grace is determined to get revenge and to do that she’s going to kill her family one by one. But then she’s imprisoned for a murder she didn’t commit.

The White Guys Die First

This is a collection of 13 scary short stories by 13 authors of color and this time, the white guys die first.

Youthjuice

Sophia knows something is off about HEBE from her first day on the storytelling team, but she has her own skeletons in her closet and doesn’t care. While her outward life seems quite charmed, she craves deeper meaning and she finds it all at HEBE.

Soon she’s addicted to the HEBE lifestyle and Youthjuice, the new moisturizer Tree (the founder and CEO) has asked her to test out. The cracks in HEBE start to show, and when she finds out the secret ingredient in Youthjuice she has to decide how far she’s willing to go to stay beautiful forever.

This sounds like Natural Beauty by Ling Ling Huang (which I loved) and I am very intrigued!

Black Sheep

Vesper’s family is even less normal than a “normal” family. She left home at eighteen and never looked back at the staunchly religious community she left, until an envelope shows up at her door.

It’s a invitation to her beloved cousin Rosie’s wedding on the family farm. Something inside her insists she go where she’ll have to face her former horror film star mother Constance.

Upon her return, a terrifying secret is revealed and she’s forced to reckon with her family’s beliefs and her own crisis of faith.

The Night Guest

Iðunn has visited doctor after doctor to try and get to the bottom of her fatigue and she has tried everything, but nothing helps.

In addition to eating better, exercising more, and establishing a night routine, she gets a step counter. She falls asleep with it on one night and wakes up to find she walked 40,000 steps the night before.

What is happening when she’s asleep? Why is she waking up with increasingly disturbing injuries? And why won’t anyone believe her?

Have you read any of these? Which ones? Any other horror books with pink covers I should check out?
