Back in December I found out Gainesville was going to be getting a new Independent bookstore and I was VERY excited. I texted like, five people immediately because my cat wasn’t as excited about it as I was and I needed to tell someone. Literally anyone.
And I’m even more excited now because they’re opening in just two days! The Lynx is opening on April 28 (Independent Bookstore Day!) at South Main Station in downtown Gainesville, Florida.
Author Lauren Groff and her husband Clay Kallmann are the brains behind Gainesville’s newest independent bookstore. And this isn’t just any indie bookstore.
It’s an indie bookstore focusing on Florida, LGBTQ+, and BIPOC authors in addition to banned books, which we love here. And by we I mean me because I’m the only one here on this blog (I hope you also love them, though).
Throughout the year they’ll be having author events, not just for the grand opening. They also run three books clubs: the Banned Book Book Club, the Romance Book Club, and the Florida Literature Book Club.
While those are more for locals, it’s worth checking to see what’s going on if you’ll be passing through at all (which you should because Gainesville is wonderful!)

The Lynx Grand Opening Celebrations
They’ll be having both indoor and outdoor events on the 28th including lots of author readings and some live music! There are also some community deals happening for the grand opening if you bring in a proof of purchase from The Lynx!
You can get 20% off at Humble Wood Fire Pizza (this place is delicious, the banana pudding is so good) and Grand Scheme Brewing, 15% off at Frenchmen Street Food, and a Fats & Furies Cocktail at Bingo Deli!
They are normally open 10-4 on Sundays but for the grand opening they’ll be open 10-7.
